{"id":32630,"date":"2026-02-19T13:35:28","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T08:05:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecatalystonline.com\/?p=18754"},"modified":"2026-08-03T18:00:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T12:30:22","slug":"iit-madras-opens-new-applied-ai-hub-in-dubai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecatalystonline.in\/thecatalyst\/iit-madras-opens-new-applied-ai-hub-in-dubai\/","title":{"rendered":"IIT Madras opens new applied AI hub in Dubai"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><a title=\"IIT Madras Global Research Foundation\" href=\"https:\/\/ge.iitm.ac.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">IIT Madras Global Research Foundation<\/a>, the institute\u2019s initiative to take IIT Madras global, will establish its first Applied Artificial Intelligence Innovation Centre at <a title=\"Dubai Media launches new Dubai+ digital platform\" href=\"https:\/\/thecatalystonline.in\/thecatalyst\/home\/dubai-media-launches-new-dubai-digital-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dubai<\/a> CommerCity.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Centre, in its first phase, will host a portfolio of six applied AI start-ups with a combined valuation of approximately $118 million and will aim to convert advanced AI capabilities into scalable, market-ready applications.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The project is expected to stimulate commercial activity and develop intellectual property locally. It will also help in facilitating market access and investment for start-ups in the GCC region.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>An MoU for the launch of the centre was signed on the sidelines of WORLDEF Dubai 2026 held earlier this month.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Amna Lootah, Director-General of Dubai CommerCity and Dubai Airport Freezone<\/strong>, said, \u201cThis MoU with IIT Madras Global Research Foundation marks a strategic milestone in advancing Dubai CommerCity\u2019s role as a specialised free zone for digital trade and advanced technologies. The establishment of IITM Global\u2019s first Applied Artificial Intelligence Innovation Centre within our ecosystem reinforces our commitment to enabling innovation-led growth.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cThe launch of the Applied AI Innovation Centre in Dubai marks a pivotal step in globalising IIT Madras\u2019 research.
