HR, for me, has never been limited to policies or procedures. It has been about understanding unspoken concerns, holding space for difficult conversations, and creating alignment between aspiration and reality. It has been about listening deeply and without judgement, and sometimes even having the courage to question the status quo.
One of the defining phases of my career was when I was entrusted with a business unit that had been underperforming for quite some time. The easy route would have been drastic cost-cutting measures and workforce reduction. The pressure was real. The expectations were high.
But I believed there had to be another way.
Instead of reacting, I chose to understand. I spent time identifying structural gaps, capability challenges, morale concerns, and leadership disconnects. I worked closely with management to give them an honest, ground-level view of what employees were thinking and feeling. At the same time, I helped employees see the business realities and the reasoning behind management decisions. When dialogue replaced assumptions, trust began to rebuild.
HR became the bridge – not just between two sides, but between doubt and trust.
It wasn’t easy. There were moments of resistance, uncertainty, and immense pressure. But I learned that resilience is not about noise, it is about steadiness. It is about staying anchored to your values when it would be easier to compromise.
Did I never succumb to pressure? Of course I did. I made choices I later questioned — some that still prick my conscience. But those very decisions became my greatest teachers. They reminded me that every setback carries within it the seed of wisdom if we are willing to learn.
This journey taught me that strength is not always visible. Sometimes it is quiet conviction. Sometimes it is choosing empathy in a results-driven world. Sometimes it is standing alone for what feels right.
As we celebrate Women’s Day, I reflect on what “She Is Infinite” truly means. To me, it is the courage to stand firm in values, the resilience to navigate pressure, the conviction that people and performance are not opposing forces and to rise — again and again — with grace!
The infinite within us is not loud. It is deep…. And when led with authenticity and purpose, its potential — much like a woman’s — is truly infinite!!
